HISPANIC UNITY OF FLORIDA LAUNCHES WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE WITH $500,000 FROM JPMORGANCHASE

Hollywood, Fla. – [February 4, 2025]  - Hispanic Unity of Florida (HUF) has received a $500,000 commitment from the JPMorganChase to establish workforce education pathways for job seekers in Broward County. The program is focused on helping low-to-moderate income participants achieve financial success by offering training in digital literacy, English language proficiency, and industry-specific skills, empowering them to access high-paying jobs and advance their careers.

“This investment from JPMorganChase is groundbreaking,” says Felipe Pinzon, President and CEO of HUF. “We both seek to create greater opportunities for families to achieve economic prosperity. We have many talented clients that visit us every day. With their support we will be able to link our clients’ existing skills with a vocational training program that will enhance their quality of life.”

As part of HUF’s Center for Working Families, the program will serve three main audiences: youth and young adults, working-age adults, and older adults, targeting the 13% of Broward County residents who live below the Federal Poverty Level. It is designed to prepare participants for in-demand industries in South Florida, including aviation, healthcare, and technology.

“We are proud to support Hispanic Unity of Florida in their efforts to address critical workforce needs in Broward County in communities that are often overlooked,” said Maria Escorcia, Southeast Region Executive for Global Philanthropy at JPMorganChase. “Our goal is to empower individuals with the skills and opportunities they need to thrive in today's competitive job market, because good paying jobs create strong communities. For more than 45 years, JPMorganChase has had a presence in Greater Miami - leveraging our resources, expertise, and data insights to help drive economic growth.”

In partnership with local businesses and schools, the curriculum will offer hands-on training, learning experiences, and address gaps in technology skills and English language abilities. More details about HUF’s Workforce Education and Training Program are available at www.hispanicunity.org
