Teenage Philanthropists Raise $15,000 for Youth Programs at HUF

April 30, 2018 – Hollywood, FL On Saturday, March 10, 2018, Kids Helping Kids One Stroke at a Time – with the Don Law Golf Academy – hosted a Family Golf Day at the Osprey Point Golf Course in Boca Raton. The fun, action-packed day for kids, families and golfers of all ages and levels raised funds for Hispanic Unity of Florida’s (HUF) youth programs, as well as other nonprofits.

Siblings Alec & Elle Nachmann aren’t your ordinary teenagers. Not only are they professional-level golfers, they use their athletic talents to raise awareness and money for local charities. Founded in 2016, the Nachmanns started Kids Helping Kids One Stroke at a Time to raise funds for the Morgan Pressel Foundation. In 2017, they expanded their list of causes to support to include HUF’s Unity 4Kids and Unity 4Teens programs.

Alec & Elle share, “We are so excited to be a part of the amazing work and community that Hispanic Unity is comprised of and represents.  We are so proud of our own heritage and want to assist Hispanic Unity in their/its efforts to provide such vital and important services in the education of young children and families in their efforts to pursue the American dream! ...and even though we are just kids, we want to show other young people that everyone can make difference in improving/helping a child and family’s life.”

Unity 4Kids (U4K) is a year-round early learning center. The center focuses on serving children, ages 3-5, from culturally diverse and economically disadvantaged neighborhoods in Broward County to attain academic and social success. If not for this program, the families in these neighborhoods would lack access to a bilingual program that prepares Spanish-speaking preschoolers for Kindergarten through technology, literacy, art and science. And, while preparing the preschoolers to thrive, the parents are supported through wrap-around programs and learn how to help their children succeed in school – and life.

Unity 4Teens (U4T) is a comprehensive, year-round youth development program that serves four middle schools and two high schools in Broward County. The U4T middle schooler program ensures youth stay in school, improve their academic skills, engage socially while learning problem-solving skills, and give back to the community through service. The U4T high school program focuses on goal setting and ensures its participants will stay in high school, graduate, and enter college and/or the workforce.
